Tadpole Update & Laundry (May 23, 2011)

I’m not sharing. Seriously. It’s not been a pleasant adventure and I don’t know how to share what’s going on. I have reported our flaws and errors to the givers of the tadpoles, so I’m not hiding anything. Well, I’d better just get it out, huh?

Okay, I was rushing out to our homeschool expo and grabbed and electronic object with a cord. The cord was around the container with the tadpoles and I didn’t notice. It pulled, container fell, tadpoles on ground. Well, just one.

I couldn’t get him up. I tried…just couldn’t. (I should not be approved for foster parenting.) Used a piece of paper as dustpan while yelling for T. My friend Elizabeth was visiting. I think she was laughing at me inwardly. I was. I was a mess.

So T comes up and I said, Quick, run to the pond and get some water. So he did. There wasn’t enough water left in the container after the spill.  I reasoned that I shouldn’t put the little dudes in city water with all the chlorine and treatment chemicals, so the pond water was in the back yard and would ensure their survival.

Well, one tadpole didn’t survive that.

Turns out (P’s mom told me) that I shocked him with the temperature change.

Mr. Tadpole, I am SO sorry! Please forgive me. I am not a good tadpole mom. I think I’m going to put your brother (with monitored temperature shift) back into the pond to ensure his survival. Our home is not a safe place for you. You brought us so much joy in your amazing development. Thank you for that. Goodbye.

You’ve heard me say it before and I’ll say it again: I’m not pet people.

Tomorrow begins a serious laundry event. I am beginning the packing for a road trip for family of 7, purging and re-assigning clothing for summer for the kids, and going through and packing away items for Miss D that we were blessed with. This also includes finding matches for all socks in the home, revamping the laundry room for more efficiency, and ironing the overgrown ironing basket. This will be a 2-day effort. We will watch movies throughout. Breaks to nurse baby, eat lunch, and relieve ourselves will be allowed.

There won’t be a blog challenge till July, so I’m issuing myself one for June. It’s starting now with the laundry. So prepare to talk laundry and give me your tips and lessons-learned.

And to all the pet people: I’m sorry about the tadpole!
