Prepping to go… (June 25, 2008)

Some believe that post-vacation is the hardest time because you realize how tired you are and you need another vacation. I disagree.

If executed properly, the preparation stage is the most stressful part of the vacation. Planning and packing is a major task. It should be completed 36 to 48 hours before the departure. That allows for sensible packing of the forgotten things (so they don’t get stuffed in the side pocket of an obscure bag). It also allows you time to properly clean the house so that it is pristine and relaxing upon your return. If all is clean, then you can unpack stress-free and reflect on your memory-making vacation.

Have I ever successfully executed said Ideal Plan? Of course not. But that won’t stop me from trying. I think I can do it this time…I think I can, I think I can. Feel free to see the chaos in our current prep stage!
