I Choose to Button! (March 5, 2013)

At Thanksgiving I wore a long tunic-style jacket with tuxedo ruffles. It was sharp. I looked good. I had a really fun shirt. The tunic hung open and showcased my great jewelry. I was stylin’!

This past Sunday I was dressing for church and I pulled out the same jacket, mostly because I had nothing with long sleeves clean AND ironed, so I was going to throw the Thanksgiving jacket over a sleeveless shirt. I picked some jeans and a fun shirt that could hang down.

I stood in the mirror, and started to close the jacket together to see what it would look like if I could button. You see, I didn’t button it at Thanksgiving because it wouldn’t close. But on Sunday, it pulled together! It overlapped!! I wore the jacket, completely buttoned to service. I was comfortable…(and cute)!

Today was weigh-in day. I did my workout (a short class of Zumba Rush on Kinect and Jillian Michaels’ Shred). I weighed in. Progress.

As I was selecting my outfit for the day I told Ethnic Man that I really wanted some new shirts that reflected how I feel inside. The dark shirts were designed to slim and I don’t feel dark. Ho hum, I thought. I pulled down the orange shirt. I almost put it in the thrift store bag last month. I got it in a pass-along box anyway. When I tried it on–cute as it was–I couldn’t button it. I had already weaned my daughter, so it wasn’t milk inflating my chest. It was the fat cells. Ho hum. I kept the shirt because it was orange. I love orange! And it was shimmery. I’m not big on texture, but this was a fun shirt.

Ethnic Man was knocked out. So I grabbed the shirt. Tossed it on with every intention of putting it in the thrift store bag and grieving my obesity. Here’s what I chose to wear today:
