We got the new cable bill. It was the first month after advertised bundle ended. It was high. Quite high. We paid it. We like our shows. We like our On Demand. We like our DVR.
The next month we got another bill. We paid it while cringing.
Last week we cut the cable. How do they get away with those prices. Cable companies must be very much like the government, buying their paper clips at $1/clip. I just don’t understand why they need that much money when other companies can offer comparable service for so much less.
Of course, I’ve been miserable without my cable. I finally memorized the numbers (after undoing my brain from the DirecTV numbers). I have to check the weather on my phone or PC, which takes so long that it’s easier to just grab a jacket, umbrella, and hope for the best. The new season of shows on USA starts in a couple of weeks. I think we’ll be purchasing season passes for those through something.
I’m reading more. I’ll survive. The kids are getting more outside time. We are watching more movies. It’s good for the goal-setting. Clean up this, this, and that, and we get a movie. Or this one, Sure, you can play outside, or you can sort this, that, and declutter that and we can have movie night instead. My personal favorite: Let’s watch this while we fold the clothes (laundry is getting managed better).
We’re making it work. It’s summer. Don’t need all that screen time when there is so much to do outside. They don’t ask for as many video games either (even though they were relegated to weekends).
I still miss the cable.
