J’s ninth birthday was a journey…literally. We sent him on a scavenger hunt of sorts to earn clues from folks in the community. He would get a clue that would take him to a person, such as the librarian. She would ask him a trivia question. If he got the answer correct, he earned the letter in the envelope. All the letters spelled out a hint of what his birthday was.
From the librarian to the friends across the street to the park to the bakery and even the track coach…J made the rounds of our community, earning all of his clues. And in the midst of it all, he was treated to a round of golf with Mr. Adams.
